Terms & Conditions

2.1 Eligibility: Our courses are designed for young people aged 5-18. Age requirements may vary by course.

2.2 Confirmation: A place is confirmed when payment is received. Completing the enrolment form does not hold a place. If you do not complete payment, no booking record is created and no place is held.

2.3 Places: Courses are capped at ten. Places are allocated in the order payment is received.

2.4 When enrolment closes: Enrolment closes at the end of the second week of term. Assembly runs one project across a full term, ending in an exhibition. A young person joining later cannot make the work.

2.5 Waitlist: If a course is full you can join the waitlist. We contact people in the order they joined when a place opens.

3.1 Course Fees: All fees are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) and include GST.

3.2 Payment: Full payment is required at enrolment. Assembly does not take deposits or instalments.

3.3 Joining after term starts: A young person joining in the first two weeks of term pays for the sessions remaining, not the full term. The amount is calculated at enrolment and shown before payment.

3.4 Materials: All materials and equipment are included in the course fee unless otherwise stated.

4.1 If you withdraw: More than 14 days before term starts, a full refund. Inside 14 days, or once term has started, no refund. Places are capped at ten, and a late withdrawal usually cannot be filled.

4.2 If Assembly cancels: If we cancel a course, you get a full refund. If we cancel individual sessions, we reschedule them or refund that portion.

4.3 Missed sessions: No refund or credit for sessions a young person does not attend.

4.4 Illness and other circumstances: Where a young person cannot continue for medical or other serious reasons, talk to us. We consider these individually and would rather have the conversation than apply a rule.

4.5 Your rights under Australian Consumer Law: Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including where a service is not delivered with due care and skill.

5.1 Attendance: Regular attendance is expected. Please notify us in advance if your child will be absent.

5.2 Late Arrival/Early Departure: Please inform us if your child will arrive late or need to leave early.

5.3 Behaviour: Young people are expected to be respectful, engaged, and follow studio guidelines. We reserve the right to remove young people who disrupt the learning environment.

6.1 Medical Information: Parents/guardians must disclose any medical conditions, allergies, or special needs during enrolment.

6.2 Emergency Contact: You must provide current emergency contact information.

6.3 Drop off and collection: Doors open fifteen minutes before a session. There is no supervision before that.

A young person is collected only by a person named on the enrolment form. If someone else needs to collect them, we need confirmation from the enrolling parent first, by phone or in writing. This applies to family members too.

Young people aged 12 and over may leave on their own at the end of a session where the enrolling parent has authorised it at enrolment. Assembly's responsibility ends when they leave the studio.

We keep a sign in and sign out register for every session.

6.4 Equipment Use: Young people must follow safety guidelines when using studio equipment and materials.

6.5 Child safety: Assembly is a child safe organisation. Every practitioner holds a current Working with Children Check and National Police Check. Practitioners follow an escalation protocol for any concern about a young person's safety, and the director holds responsibility for reporting where required.

Assembly photographs work made at the studio, and sometimes photographs young people making it. We use those images to show what happens here.

Nothing is used without permission. At enrolment you choose separately whether Assembly may photograph your child's work for its own records, whether their work may be labelled with their first name at the end of term exhibition, and whether their work or images of them may appear on our website, on Instagram, or in print. Each of these is a separate choice. Agreeing to one is not agreeing to the others.

You can change any of these permissions at any time by emailing studio@assembly.net.au. We will act on it and confirm in writing.

Assembly does not publish a young person's full name. Where a name appears alongside work, it is a first name only.

Work made at Assembly belongs to the young person who made it. Assembly will not reproduce, license or sell student work without written permission from the family.

Personal information collected at enrolment is held securely and used only to run Assembly's courses, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Our Privacy Policy sets out how we handle it and how to request access or correction.

8.1 Personal Property: Assembly is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property.

8.2 Injury: While we take all reasonable precautions, Assembly is not liable for injuries sustained during courses except where caused by our negligence.

8.3 Insurance: We maintain public liability insurance. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child's personal accident insurance.
